Pepsi goes fugalicious

Pepsi have redesigned their packaging and logo... into the style which you see below. Drastic but cyclical measures for any brand.

So what are you thoughts? Fugalicious or ridiculously fresh and zexy?

P.S. Wtf is with the text speak on Mountain Dew.

  1. I think it looks a bit 90's space age, but overall I quite like it. Not sure what it'll do for sales. but will definitely have me thinking next time.

  2. Yeah I guess every brand refreshes their packaging and logo over time. I said an interesting post somewhere which had the Pepsi logo over time, and looking at the evolution I think it is about the right time that they refreshed it.

    It's a bit of a paradox really, because to me the design looks both retro and futuristic at the same time.

    I'm also not 100% sure if they have finalised this as the new design. There wasn't much info on the net when I posted so it could be just a pitch from a NY agency or that it was being tested to see what the consumer response was (which from what I have picked up in the blogosphere) is largely negative so far.

  3. i don't like it... the bottles now look like those cheap and nasty soft drinks you get at 2 dollar stores. gross.

  4. the mtn dew one is pretty hilarious. it's like they've just cottoned on to an old fad. Reebok started this about five years ago with RBK, but have now gone back to Reebok.
